Alonzo Allen
An old soldier of this city, answered to the last roll call November 13, 1905. Mr. Allen was born in Salem, Indiana, and moved to Haddam in 1884. When Lincoln called for soldiers in 1861, he was among the first to answer his country's call and enlisted in Company "C" 38th Wisconsin, and served till the close of the war. He has some children, but their present address is unknown to the editor. Mr. Allen was wounded during the Civil War. He was held in high esteem by all his presence.
The funeral services were conducted at the M. P. church by Rev. T. J. Strickler, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Haddam cemetery
