Helen Gholson, 101, of Lubbock passed way on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. She was born December 20, 1911 in Delta County, Texas to Ed and Mae Haley. She moved to Lubbock in 1922 and married James S. Gholson. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1956. Helen worked for City Steam & Laundry for 20 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Helen is survived by a daughter, Shirley Holt of Woodrow; two sons, Lee Gholson and wife Darla of Smyer and James Gholson and wife Claudine of Azle; brother, Robert Haley of Tyler; sister, Lena Mae Finley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Sanders Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
