Everyone knew Granddaddy as "Dick Armstrong". On documents he generally signed his name as "A. S. Armstrong", using his full name only on legal documents. Only family knew his given name. The name Scott is his mother's maiden name but the source for Aldra remains a mystery. Added by granddaughter Peggy Sue

uneral services for Aldra Scott (Dick) Armstrong, 63, farmer of the Bellville community, who died Wednesday night of last week, were at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Lelon Looper officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Armstrong died at his home after a long illness. He was a native of Lincoln County, a son of Andrew and Delia Scott Armstrong.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Long Armstrong; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Dobson and Mrs. Dorothy Steelman, both of Moore County, Tennessee, and Mrs. Virginia Tate of Lincoln County; three sons, Raymond Armstrong of McMinnville, Tennessee, Grover Armstrong of Lincoln County, and and Knox Armstrong, U. S. Army, Aberdeen, Maryland; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Swing, Mrs. Estella Scott, and Mrs. Flora Mae Williams, all of Lincoln County; a brother, James Armstrong of Lincoln County; nine grandchildren.
