Mayme was born Mary Regina Mathahs. Her headstone reads Mayme C. Fisher. She always went by Mayme. She was born the first child and only daughter of Anton Mathahs and Anna Schneidt. Her six brothers are, Anton, David, Harry, Elmer, Andrew and Vern.

She married Ernest Lawrence Fisher on May 10, 1915 in Bremer County, Iowa. They had two sons; Harold Anthony Fisher, Sr. and Kenneth Donald Fisher.

Earnest and Mayme lived in the Waterlou, Iowa area when their sons were born. They lived in Rapids City, Rock Island County, Illinois during the 1940's and 1950's. They enjoyed gardening and had many strawberries and fruit trees. Mayme worked in a restaurant along the Mississippi River in Rapid City, Rock Island County, Illinois.

They lived in Temple City, California from October 1962 to December 1968 and lived at 5346 El Monte Avenue. They returned to the Quad Cities, Illinois area and lived with their son, Harold, until April 1969. They then moved to Moline, Illinois.

Mayme died due to a heart attack. Her obituary states her burial place as St. John's Cemetery in Rapids City, Illinois, however she is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline, Illinois beside her husband. Her published obituary is below:

Mrs. Ernest L. Fisher, 76, of 1013 17th Ave., Moline, formerly of Rapids City, died this morning in Moline Public Hospital.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in DeRoo Funeral Home, and at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Rapids City. (ERROR)

Friends may call after noon tomorrow at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Mayme M. Mathahs was born in Peru, Ill. She was married to Mr. Fisher May 10, 1915, in Tripoli, Iowa.

She had been employed at Servus Rubber Co., and John Deere Harvester, East Moline Works. She retired in 1946 after 20 years employment.

Survivors are the widower; two sons, Harold A. of Rock Island and Kenneth D. of Big Island, Milan; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Vernon of Clearlake, Iowa, Harry of Thompson, Iowa, David of Mason City, Iowa, Elmer of Fairfield, Calif., and Andrew of Rapid City.
