Elbert Odell Smith age 67 years, 8 months, and 13 days of Pine Knot, Kentucky died Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Cyrus Byrd officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

He was born March 31, 1945 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to John Walker Smith and Alcie (Stephens) Smith. Elbert was a member of the Pine Knot Church of God and was an honorary Fire Fighter with the Pine Knot Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting ink pens, loved model cars, and books. Elbert was a special person and loved everyone.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers, Darrell, Elisha, James, John Archie, George, Leon, and Doyle Smith; and sisters, Margaret and Reba Smith, Rosetta Blevins, Luranne Phillips, and Hetta Perry.

Survivors include his brothers, Carl Smith of Indy, Douglas Smith and wife, Barbara, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Loran Smith and wife, Patricia, of Florida; sisters, Juantia McKnight of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Bonnie Haynes and husband, George, of Strunk, Kentucky, and Janet Crabtree and husband, Ronnie, of Stearns, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Betty Maxine Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
