George Payne Jr. George "Henry" Payne Jr., 79, of Ronda died April 13, 1997, at home after a long illness. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Mines, Kayford, and was a member of UMW. Surviving: daughter, Geraldine Pauley of Charleston; sons, O. John of Dawes, Arthur of Clarksburg; sisters, Mary Schmidt of Miami, Mabel McKown of Chesapeake, Ella Louise Deboard of Goshen, Ind.; brothers, Gordon and Tommy, Robert Lee of Jodie, Leonard of Ronda, Howard of Belle; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, with the Rev. Rick Holstein officiating. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
