Robert Earl "Red" Edwards, 91, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Robert was born March 19, 1921, in Independence, MO, to Ruth Violet Lanham & Perry Marvin Edwards. He was known to many as thrifty & hard-working. As a young man he started his own welding & repair business, working out of his garage. He was respected as the person who could fix or build anything, & he had a remarkable understanding of how things worked. He worked for Sears for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was well- liked & respected at work as dependable & capable. He enjoyed buying houses that needed repairs, doing the work, & then renting them out. Robert is survived by his wife Delta Juanita Farris Edwards of the home; sons Robert (Bob) Harry Edwards (wife Linda Jackson Edwards) & Perry Lester Edwards; daughters Delta Earlene Edwards Flewelling (husband Gary) & Kathy Ruth Edwards Drews; sister Margery L. Smith (husband LaMarr Smith); 7 grandchildren & 14 great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or Trinity Independent Baptist Church.
