BETTIS, Lynn Shelton, Sr., 88, of Tullahoma, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Harton Regional Medical Center. He was born in Jefferson City, son of the late George T. Bettis and Eula Bowers Bettis. He was retired from AEDC in Tullahoma where he worked as an operating engineer. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Tullahoma and the Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Shelby Bettis, and by a brother, Murle B. Bettis. He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Bettis, Tullahoma; two sons, Joel Bettis, Tullahoma, and Shelton Bettis, Decatur, Ala.; one daughter, Loretta (Steve) Partin, Burlington, N.C.; two sisters, Georgia Murphy, Jefferson City, Tenn., and Jean Hickman, White Pine, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Steve, Scott and Jennifer Bettis, Kara Wimberley and John and Tod Partin, and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Tullahoma Funeral Home with Dr. Don Dixon officiating. Entombment was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
