Piedmont - Funeral services for Carla Michele Cook Fuqua, 31, of Piedmont, will be Sunday, December 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Byrian Watts, Rev. Susan Clark and Rev. Ricky Doyal officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include a son, Justin Wayne Fuqua, of Piedmont; her mother, Darlene Taylor Cook, of Piedmont; grandmother, Betty Cook Stewart (Jim), of Rome, Georgia; special mama, Shelia McCarley; special cousins, Michelle Thacker and Craig McMurray; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be Adam Maddox, Cody Holbrooks, Adam Cook, Gary Cook, Dale Lockridge, Glenn Naugher, David Lockridge and Brandon Lockridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig McMurray, Brett Holbrooks, Ronnie McClarty, Michael McMurray, Jackie Lockridge, Danny Ray Kirk and Milton Christopher. Carla was a lifelong resident of Piedmont. She attended Spring Garden School and graduated from Vineyard Christian Academy in 1999. She was a former employee of NABI and Piedmont Health Care Center where she loved taking care of the elderly and would call to check of them. She was a loving mother, wife and daughter and loved to spend time with her son Justin. Carla had a special place in her heart for her niece Katlyn McMurray.
