Viola Gertrude Hoover Bertoch Curry 1918 - 2008

Our dear mother passed away April 2, 2008 at her home on Basils Lane in West Valley City, Utah.

She was the eldest of three siblings born to Edward and Gladys Devereaux Hoover on December 7, 1918 in Junction City, Kansas. She shared fond childhood memories of her playground being in Memory Grove and climbing on the lions at the state capitol building. On April 1, 1936 she married our handsome father, Donald T. Bertoch. They were married 49 exciting years. They had five children together. During the war Mama and Daddy lost 2 small children and her step-father to tuberculosis. Daddy passed away suddenly July 26, 1985. Two years later Mama met Don Curry and they were married July 27, 1987 in Hawaii. Don was a blessing sent to our family. He loved and cared for Mama for 21 years. He passed away January 29, 2008. We were lucky to be given the best mother in the world. She was tender, kind and sensible. She loved being a grandma and devoted much of her life to her grandkids.

She is survived by her children and their spouses; ReNee (Ken) Failor, Linda Bertoch Anderson and Steve (Debby) Bertoch, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister, Evelyn, brother, Lawrence (Red) daughter, Karen, son, Michael, and her grandson, Donnie Failor.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 So. 2200 W. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior at the Funeral Home.
