Clarence A. Gagnon, R.C.A., 60, died last night at the Royal Victoria Hospital. A painter, etcher and illustrator, Mr. Gagnon was probably best known for his paintings of the Laurentians.
Surviving are his widow, the former Lucille Rodier; and three brothers, Wilford, Ernest and Frederick.
Born in Montreal in 1881, he was the son of Alphonse E. Gagnon and an English mother. He studied under William Brymer of the Art Association; and in Paris, under Jean-Paul Laurens at the Julian Academy. He married Lucille Rodier in 1919. Mr. Gagnon was a resident of France from 1922 to 1936.
