Wilma attended school in Treynor, Iowa, where she graduated in 1954.
On September 10, 1955, she married Charles Chester Smith in Glenwood, Iowa. They had three children, Sherry, Michael and Mark. The family lived in Bennington and Waterloo, Nebraska, before moving to Craig in 1971.
Wilma worked for Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska, and Home Health for approximately 35 years. She spent most of her life caring for others as a nurse aid and hospice volunteer.
Wilma was a member of the Craig Foundation and the VFW Auxiliary in Craig.
Wilma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities. She enjoyed visiting and having coffee with her fellow "Library Board" friends. She also enjoyed embroidering and quilting. Wilma had an extensive angel collection.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles and daughter, Sherry.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Smith, Mark and Michelle Smith all of Craig; brother, Delbert Brittain of Glenwood, IA; four grandsons, Jason Smith of Hooper, NE, Justin, Colton and Ryan Smith of Craig; many nieces, nephews, family members and a host of friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Craig, Nebraksa.
VISITATION: Tuesday, 4 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation Wednesday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
BURIAL: Prospect Hill Cemetery, Elkhorn, Nebraska
