PRINCETON - Viola Grace Thorn-O'Donnell, 94, left this earth for her heavenly home on December 10, 2012.

Born January 5, 1918 at Rock, she was a resident at Princeton Health Care Center where she received wonderful, loving care for the past year.

She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Thorn (1888-1962) and Vernie Pearl Bailey-Thorn (1891-1960).

Viola was a member of the Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg, W.V., a member of the adult Sunday School class, The Sonshine Ladies Circle, and a former member of the choir. She was a 1935 graduate of Matoaka High School. Viola dearly loved her Lord, her family, gospel music and her country.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Sidney "Guy" O'Donnell (1894-1989), whom she married on December 19, 1936 in Rock, Mercer County, WV; son Weldon O'Donnell (Deceased); her siblings, Harry F. Thorn (1911-1917, Earl W. Thorn (1912-1912), Nina M. Thorn (1913-1913), Addie Thorn-Rhodes (1915-1983), Ada Thorn (Deceased), Herbert Thorn (Deceased), Carl Thorn (1921-1921), Clyde Thorn (Deceased) & Glen Mason Thorn (1929-2006).

Survivors include her daughter Shirley O'Donnell-Peck and husband George of Oceanside, CA; one son Jerry O'Donnell and wife Beth of Carlsbad, CA; two granddaughters, Terissa Boward of Sacramento, CA and Erin Martin and husband Harold of Gainesville, VA; one grandson, Jimmy O'Donnell of Carlsbad, CA; seven great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tara Borgstrom of Vancouver, British Columbia, Samantha and Jessie Borgstrom of Sacramento, CA and Devlin, Ronan and Connor Martin of Gainesville, VA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Ralph Calfee officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton.
