MONTICELLO, Iowa -- Rosalene A. Schwendinger, 80, of Monticello, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at her home after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, with Monsignor Neil Tobin officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish scripture service at 8 p.m.

She was born on June 27, 1920, in Castle Grove, the daughter of Henry and Lucy (Rohrbach) Kuriger. She married Kenneth Schwendinger on June 2, 1942.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth, a daughter, Jolene Schwendinger, of Cedar Rapids, four sons, Dean (Marty) of Monticello, Ken (Gail) of Salisbury, N. C., Dave (Tammy) of Williamsburg, and Steve (Allison) of Buena Park, Calif., 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Kuriger, of Monticello, and Alfred Kuriger of Savannah, Ga.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Louise, on June 7, 1950; a son Thomas, on December 3, 1999; two sisters, Genevieve Muller and Mildred Barry, and six brothers, Ralph, Karl, Louis, Norbert, Lawrence and Clarence.
