Graduated from Viroqua High School 1904. In the fall of 1904 she went to Stevens Point Normal School, where she trained to be a science teacher. She taught for many years through out the upper Midwest.
Her hobby in life was ornithology, the study of birds. Around 1960 the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service recognized her for her contributions to ornithology:she had submitted bird migration and bird census information to the service for 40 years straight.
