Samuel D. (Dell) White, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died August 16, 1996, at his home in Tooele, Utah.

He was born January 16, 1910, in Tooele, to Joseph and Annie Elizabeth Tanner White. He married Ida Lloyd on May 16, 1936, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dell was an active member of the LDS church, holding the office of high priest. He worked as an electrician at the Tooele Smelter for 27 years and at Kennecott Copper where he retired in 1974. He was a past chief and member of the Tooele Volunteer Fire Department for 61 years. Dell had a great love and knowledge of horses. As a charter member and past president of the Tooele Bit and Spur Riding Club, he was admired and respected by many and passed on a great legacy to his family. His life exemplified his devotion to family and friends. Dell will be missed by all.His is survived by his wife, Ida; son, Gene D. (Carolyn) White; daughters, Colleen (Scott) Beveridge; Karen (Tom) Tate; Marilyn (Larry) Allen; brother, Glen White; sisters, Edith Eastman and Alice Buckingham. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth; three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 20, at 1 p.m. at the Tooele Stake Center, 253 South 200 East. Friends may call at the Tate Mortuary, Monday, August 19, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church one prior to the service. Interment, Tooele City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Samuel D. White to the American Cancer Society, 941 East 3300 South, S.L.C., Utah 84106.
