Eunice Freda Bower was the daughter of Howard Voorhees and Nellie Grace Stamp Bower. She graduated from Keota High School in 1930 and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, earning a certificate to teach. She taught country school in rural Keota.
She was married to Carl Henry Walton on December 26, 1933 at the Lutheran parsonage in Washington, Iowa. She was a homemaker and devoted mother to two sons; Dennis and Donald. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, reading books, cooking, and entertaining in her home.
They farmed for many years in Washington County before relocating to Marengo in 1996. Carl passed away Aug. 12, 1998, and Eunice later made her home at Rose Haven in 2004.
