Raised in St. Benedict, Pa, George T Ream, 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2012. He was under the care of Hospice and Community Care.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois A Ream (Treuter) and a daughter, Linda A. Ream, Lancaster, PA, a son, George (Ted) Ream and his fiancee, Pam Hauer and son, Scott Simonsen of Marlton, NJ, and two sisters, Mary Obush, of Indiana, PA and Chloe Knight of Chestertown, MD, along with sixteen nieces and nephews. Four brothers previously deceased were Vincent, Theodore, Harold and Marlin.

A world War II Navy Veteran, he served in the Pacific on the USS Stonewall. Upon discharge he was on the Drexel Institute of Technology varsity football team where he earned his Business degree. Subsequently he was employed 30 years by Rohm and Haas Chemical Company in the Philadelphia area where he was granted a Retiree Volunteer Award in 1991 for services to Trevor's Run, Literacy Volunteers of America and Tax Counseling for the Elderly.

A faithful Christian and church member all his life, he frequently served as an Elder and church school teacher as well as a member of a Pulpit Nominating Committee. Having lived in the Marlton, NJ area prior to his move to Lancaster, he served as Marlton Recreation Council football coach and baseball coach and referee, the Evesham Township Charter Study Commission, The Evesham Township School Board and was a two term township Councilman.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Funeral Service from St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 37 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2PM. The casket will be closed. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at the convenience of the family.
