George Washington Burke, 81, of Warren, Michigan passed away December 4, 2004.

Born in Oneida, March 19, 1923, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchel A. and Frona (Litton) Burke; four sisters: Hazel Phelps, Ilene Hollifield, Marie Ellen Marcum, and Eva Terry; and four brothers: Walter Burke, Willie Cross Burke, Kenneth Crawford, and Denis Keith Burke.

He was a Sergent in the United States Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart and Silver and Bronze Stars. He retired in 1992 after 24 years as a tool and die welder for Ford Motor Company Rouge Plant; and was active in the Ford Bowling and Golf League. He was a member of the Hazel Park Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Lucille Haney Burke; two daughters: Paula Arnold and husband, Ray, and Joyce Larson and husband, Leonard; two sons: George Douglas Burke and wife Jenny, and Clinton R. Burke and wife Melanie; five grandchildren: two great-grandchildren: several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Internment, White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
