Marriage--

On 23 Aug 1916, in Manchester, OK, joined in marriage to Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Bennett. Laurel and "Betty" lived on neighboring farmers in Rosedale, Oklahoma, and attended the Rosedale School, and Rosedale Church of Christ.


There were seven children from this union. (See: Memorial of spouse for list of children.)

Residences and Occupations--

The family lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, California, and Oregon. Laurel worked as farm manager, farmer, mechanic, and drayage.


In 1920, lived in Parsons, Alfalfa, OK, with spouse and children and worked as

Farm Manager.


In 1930 and 1940, lived in California, and worked as mechanic and in farming.


In 1950, lived in Pond, CA, and worked on several farms as Farm Manager.


In 1956, moved from California to Central Point, Oregon.


In Central Point, Jackson County, Oregon, Laurel and "Betty" lived and worked on the Higinbotham Dairy Farm. Their oldest daughter, Margaret Lucille Scott Higinbotham, was married to a son of the Higinbotham Family. The Higinbotham's were among the founding pioneer fathers in Jackson County, Oregon.

Church--

Laurel was a member of the Rosedale Church of Christ, in Rosedale, OK, as a youth and living with his parents. His father James Alfred Scott and James Jones Benntt (the father of his wife Mary Elizabeth "Betty") were the builders and founders of the Rosedale Church of Christ.

Laurel and his older brother Raymond Cyril Scott were builders and founders of the original Church of Christ in Delano, CA. Through the years many SCOTT family members have passed through those doors. The original Church was re-built in Delano, CA, years later.

Military--

On 5 Jun 1917, in Alfalfa, OK, Laurel registered for military service in WW I. He was married and self-employed as a farmer. He did not pass the physical because of a foot defect, but his brothers joined and served. (Vital Stats: Medium height, Slender build, Brown eyes, light brown hair)



In 1942, Laurel registered for WW II military service when he was age 46;

but again he did not pass the physical and could not join the military.

Laurel also coped with migraine headaches. (A medical condition which aflicted some of his children and grandchildren.)

Death and Burial--

Funeral services held in the Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, Mon., 5 Feb 1979, 3:30 pm in Medford, Oregon, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park (MGMP), Rev. George Davis of the Church of Christ of Medford, officiating. Interment in the Garden of Apostles., (MGMP).
