DeWAYNE J. "CHICK" MAXWELL, 77, died Sunday, June 2, 1996. Mr. Maxwell was a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force with 35 years of having served as a pilot including tours in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Carol M. Smither.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jerry M. Maxwell; two sons and a daughter-in-law; grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 1996 in the Lake 'O' Woods Chapel in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with the Reverend Dick Kruse officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests memorials be made to The Hospice at Texas Medical Center, 1905 Holcombe, Houston, Texas 77030.
