Judy Gooding was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Denison. He graduated from Gladewater High School and attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he studied business administration. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, he joined the Army Air Corps and received training in Harlingen and Oklahoma to pilot B-24 bombers during World War II. During his training he married his sweetheart, E. Lou Mings.

Following the war, Judy and his family returned to Gilmer, where he began his career with State Reserve Life Insurance Company. In 1955, he was transferred to Fort Worth, where he established a thriving business and a loving home. He and E. Lou raised three daughters and together they shared their gifts of love and laughter with all who knew them. They were charter members of Diamond Oaks Country Club, where they made many lifelong friends who shared their passion for golf. Judy and E. Lou were married for 56 years until her death in 1998.

He was also a member of Fort Worth Elks Club and enjoyed camaraderie and fellowship with his friends there until shortly before his death.
