Robert B. Howerton III, of Germantown, TN, unexpectedly passed away on November 12, 2012 at the age of 54.

Bob was a loving, kind, compassionate person who would go out of his way to help people in need. He touched many people's lives and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He was currently employed by Home Depot in Collierville, TN. He was previously employed by Resorts and Bally's Casino in Tunica, MS, Cordova Estates Assisted Living, Waverly Gardens, and Methodist Health Systems in Memphis, TN, and Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, TN. At one time, he served on the Bexar County Sheriff's Department in San Antonio, TX, and also was a Reserve Deputy for Shelby County Sheriff's Department in Memphis, TN.

He was a 1977 graduate of Bartlett High School, Anchorage, Alaska. He was Past Master of Bartlett Lodge No. 211 F. & A.M. in Bartlett, TN. He was a member of the Memphis Scottish Rite and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Bob was voted a distinguished Honorary Member of the De Molay Legion of Honor earlier this year from the International Order of the De Molay. He was a member of Rosemark York Rite Bodies. Bob was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles R. Howerton.

He is survived by his beloved parents Rev. Dr. Robert B. Howerton, Jr. and wife, Geraldene of Germantown,TN; sister, Mary Jane Howerton Carroll and husband Michael of San Antonio, TX; sons, Robert B. Howerton, IV and wife, Heidi of Winchester, CA, Nicholas C. Howerton and Wesley A. Howerton of Memphis, TN; uncle, Richard Daffron; niece, Jennifer M. Carroll Baier and husband, Talon; nephew, Matthew W. Carroll, many cousins, and countless friends.

The service of celebration of his life will be held at Germantown United Methodist Church, on Friday, November 23. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the church parlor followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Germantown United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
