Leonard C. Burnette, 60, of Lafayette, Ind., formerly of Carmichaels, died at 10:40 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 1972, in the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill for the past four months. A son of Mary Crago Burnette and the late William Fred Burnette, of Carmichaels, he was born February 19, 1911, and has spent all but the 11 years of his life in Carmichaels. Mr. Burnette was employed as a maintenance foreman for Purdue University, Layfayette, Ind. He served as an anti-aircraft gunner in Europe and is a Veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels, the VFW and the Cumberland American Legion Post 400. Surviving are his mother, Mary Crago Burnette of Carmichaels; two brothers, William H. Burnette of Carmichaels, and Frank S. Burnette of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Ruth) and Mrs. William C. (Jane) Groves of Carmichaels; two nephew and one niece.
