"TILTON, J. W., farmer; section 24, township 12, range 4; P.O. Pleasant Grove; born in Ogle county, Illinois, in 1850; when he reached the age of 14 years his parents moved to California, coming across the plains, arriving in this State in the fall of 1864; settled in Sonoma county; after remaining there about two years, they went to Yolo county; three years later he came to this county and settled on his present location; he owns 400 acres of land.
