[Evidently from the grave monument:] She was the daughter of H.K. & C.F. McCay; died aged 8 months.

Laura seems to be the daughter of Henry Kent McCAY and Catherine E. HANSON, who married 07 DEC 1841 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Henry was born in Pennsylvania and heads a household (aged 29 years) on the 1850 census of Sumter County, where he was practicing as an attorney; as H. K. McKAY, he paid a poll tax and a professional tax there in 1852, as well as tax on a city lot and on 5 slaves, and apparently his law partnership also paid tax on town property at that time. In his 1850 census household are Catherine McCAY (35, born in Georgia), and Robb H. BISSELL (12, born in Pennsylvania), James BROWN (25, an engineer born in Georgia), and Andrew BASS (26, a laborer born in in Georgia).
