Mary Ellen Dorman Nott, age 99, died peacefully on Saturday, the 16th of
October, 2010 in Houston Texas.

Ellen was born January 28, 1911 on a ranch in Greenock, Texas to Edger Sleet and
Lulie Faye Crump. Preceding her in death were her husband Willard Morrish Nott,
her parents, and brothers George Madison (Bud) and wife Charlene, Harvey Smith
(Tony) and wife Hazel, Jack Allen and Gene Charles and her sisters Mabel Ora
Downey and husband Herbert/Hokey Downey and Frances Louise Stearns and husband
Frank Stearns. Surviving her is her brother Edgar Sleet Jr (Dugan) and her
sister Edna Faye Leaird.

Ellen attended Baylor University for two years and left when the tuition of
twenty five dollars was unaffordable for her! She then began to teach at
Merryvale School in Fairview Texas. It was a three room school with three grades
per room, with one teacher in each room. She taught her brother Dugan when he
was in second and third grades. There are a couple of her students still living
that remember her as "that pretty teacher".

Ellen met Willard Morrish Nott on a blind date one June evening that was a
Friday the thirteenth. She always said that was her lucky day. They were married
April 28, 1934. Their honeymoon was a secret camping trip on the creek on the
family ranch. Ellen's daddy and brother Dugan saw their car tracks down to the
creek and rode horses in to investigate for intruders and discovered their
honeymoon hideaway.:)

In 1935 they moved to California for a job opportunity for Willard. The country
was still struggling out of the great depression and jobs were scarce even for a
collage graduate with an electrical engineering degree. It was a good move and
God blessed them with four children. They are Mary Ellen, now married to Herbert
Burke, Marjorie Anne, now married to Gary Woehrmann, Kathryn, now married to
Terry Oldershaw, and Willard Andrews Nott, now married to Signa.

Ellen was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, crafts and entertaining in
their comfortable home in Piedmont, California. She and Willard hosted
businessmen, international exchange students, and their large extended family
often. Lively conversations around the big dining room table were the norm,
while the kids listened in from the Kids Table on the sun porch. It was a big
deal to graduate from the kids table to the adult table in the large dining
room.

In 1964 Ellen helped Willard establish and run their business as well as
volunteer for Lincoln Child Centers Beehive thrift shop. She was also active as
a member of Plymouth Church.

Ellen returned to Texas in 2001 after living alone since the death of her
beloved Willard in 1984. She lived happily at Village On The Park retirement
center, making wonderful new friends, including her dear neighbor Edna Parker.

Ellen is also survived by her children and their spouses, numerous nieces and
nephews, thirteen grand children and twenty three great grand children, whom she
loved with great pleasure in their outstanding lives. To God be the glory.
