MARINE CITY Jay B. Basney, 59 of 165 South Water, died Sunday in Mt. Clemens General Hospital.

He was born April 14, 1915, in El Paso, Illinois, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Basney married Dorothy G. Coon May 27, 1968, in Warren.

He was a retired safety engineer at General Motors Technical Center.

Mr. Basney is survived by his wife, a daughter, Jay Ann, Algonac, his mother, Mrs. Mary M. Basney, Algonac, a sister Mrs. Lee Larson, Stewart, Florida and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Robert E. Moehring, of St. Peter's Church, Fair Haven, will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Remains are in the funeral home, with visiting hours 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday

Memorials may be made to the Michigan Heart Association.
