Sandy graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, Guilford. She attended the University of Maine, Orono, and Portland State University in Oregon, attaining a degree in library science. She later earned her master's degree in library science from the University of Rhode Island. She started her career as a librarian at Meroby Elementary School, Mexico, Maine, and continued her career as librarian serving for 24 years at the Rocky Hill School, East Greenwich, R.I. She also worked as a part-time librarian at New England Institute of Technology. She returned to Maine in 2007 upon retirement. Her free time was spent gardening, reading and with her grandchildren. She enjoyed summers spent at camps on Whetstone Pond and Webb Lake.
Sandy leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Lovejoy of Old Town; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jennifer Lovejoy of San Antonio; father, Reginald Blanchard of Clinton; two brothers, Edward Payson Blanchard of Clinton and Stephen Blanchard of Dawsonville, Ga.; sister, Susan Johnson and her husband, Wayne, of East Greenbush, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin and Samuel of Old Town, Amelia and Charlotte of San Antonio; and extended family, Kay and Ralph Johnson of Greenville and their children. She was predeceased by her mother.
