2nd Lt. Harry Allchin is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial

2nd Lt Harry Allchin was a member of the 532nd Bomber Squadron 381st Bomber. On his fifth mission his plane was shot down by flak and crashed near Cassel, France. Of the 10 men on board, six were dead or died during the explosion. Although 2nd Lt. Allchin was the co-pilot's seat of the Ye White Swan when it went down.

Harry recieved the Purple Heart post.

2. The target for today was Leverkusen, where is located one of the largest chemical plants in Europe and produces a wide range of products, particularly poison gases. 20,000 of the 50,000 population is dependent on this factory.

Seven aircraft took part: Capt Baltrusaitis, Lts Clare, Robinson, McNeill, Beckman, Duncan and Wood. This mission proved costly as Lt Duncan is Missing in Action.
