Orville N. Walker made his home in Newton Kansas was born September 16th 1919 in Torrington, Wyoming his parents Mr.& Mrs. W.E.Walker live in Palisade, Colorado, Orville attended grade school at Olney Springs, Colorado.

In 1938 he joined the National Guard and left Newton with Co.F, 137th Infantry in December 1939, he was stationed at Camp Robinson, Arkansas, San Luis Obispo, California and Camp Rucker, Alabama. In August 1943, Orville transferred from the infantry in the Army Air Co and was assigned as a ball Turret gunner at Tyndall Field Panama City, Florida, Army Air Base at Kearns, Utah, Biggs Field In El Paso, Texas and at McCook, Nebraska.

He went overseas in May 1944 and was based in England with the Eight Air Force. On the morning of August 18th 1944 his plane was sent on a mission to Roye, France and was hit by enemy gun fire at 9:50 a.m. over Compiegne, France at the time of his death he held the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Besides his parents he leaves two sisters, three brothers and cousin's who reside in Newton, Kansas.
