"There is a memorial plaque on the exterior wall of an old chapel, on top a hill, near the village of Leyrieu. The plaque commemorates the death of 15 American aviators, in the crash of their transport aircraft, on 11 Sept 1944. The chapel was damaged at the time by the falling aircraft. The aircraft crashed as the result of heavy fog."
