1Lt Paul Richardson was a member of The Citadel's Class of 1944; the entire class was drafted in spring of 1943 and only 2 members graduated. He served as a B-24 Bombardier with the 586th Bombardment Squadron, 44th Bomb Group based at RAF Shipdam, England.

Flying in the B-24 41-29496, “Aries” also known as “Ram It-Dammit”, that took off from Shipdham, their assigned target was the Seine Bridges near Creil, France. His a/c was hit by flak in the flight deck during the bomb run, caught fire, went into a steep dive, exploded and crashed 1949hrs at La Ferme Megret, 550 yards south of Creil 7 KIA 4 POW. He was serving as the bombardier.
