He was serving as the pilot on a B-26B which took off from Rivenhall with an assigned target of Maisons-La-Fitte Bridge, France. Hit by flak at about 1930hrs and went straight down in the Avenue La Fountaine in Maisons-Lafitte. All 6 crew were KIA. Three are buried in Epinal
