He trained as a navigator and received his commission in September 1943. He went overseas in February 1944. In case of my death, the following is to be the division of my property, such as it is and whatever in hell it might be at the time of such an unfortunate incident. (Unfortunate for me!)
1. Buck is to get my gold watch that pop left me.
2. Beau is to get any money that I might have in the bank at the time of my death - which won't be much, so don't get excited, A.W.
3. Lib is to receive my share of the estate at Cedar Grove - my fifth of the house and of the farm. (If I weren't dead already, she'd shoot me for such a present :)
4. My insurance is to be split up as follows:
(a) Nick is to get the first $500.00, to be put on his college education.
(b) Betty is to get the next $500.00, also for collitch.
(c) Claudia will get the 3rd $500.00, for college.
(d) Steve, who had the misfortune to be named after me, will get the next $1500 (fifteen hundred) to be his to spend as he desires, be it gambling, liquor, or, as his uncle would have spent it, on the attempted seduction of some comely wench.
(e) The remainder of the money is to be split equally between Lou and Lib.
5. 'Tain't no mo', so that's all.
