Son of Albert John and Mabel Eldora (Dennington) Galmish. Married Grace Rosadell Chitester on August 5, 1942 at the Methodist Parsonage in Cochranton, Pennsylvania. Served in World War II as a pilot of a B-26B Bomber in the 387th Bomb Group, 9th Air Force, U.S. Army. Enlisted in the Army Air Corps in January 1943 and received training at San Antonio Texas, Vernon Texas, and Enid, Oklahoma. He received his wings and commission of Lieutenant at Frederick, Oklahoma on November 3, 1943. He was given specialized training with the B-26 planes at Del Rio, Texas, later working with crew at Shreveport Louisiana. Arriving in England on May 18, 1944, he flew 23 missions from there. He died of head injuries when his plane crashed in France from an engine failure on September 5, 1944. Was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters. Originally buried in the US Military Cemetery in Ste. Mère-Eglise, Normandy, France, his body was re-interred at Cochranton, PA after the war.
