2nd Lt. Montgomery A. Coddington graduated from Phoenix Union High School with the Class of 1938, and Phoenix Junior College, both in Phoenix, Arizona. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Feb. 22, 1943 and was sent to England in April of 1944. He was a P-38 Lightning pilot reported missing in action on June 7, 1944 after a bombing mission between Feres and Laval, France. Lt. Coddington was with the 428th Fighter Squadron, 474th Fighter Group, 9th AF, hometown Phoenix, Arizona. His body was returned to the United States in 1949, cremated on April 25, 1946 and now rests with his mother, Kaetchen (Hensel) Coddington and grandmother, Augusta (Henke) Hensel.

The Mayenne WW2 Association, located in France, dedicated a monument to 2nd Lt. Coddington on June 8, 2011 in the town of Saint-Fraimbault-de-Prieres. Thank you from the P-38 National Association to the Mayenne WW2 Association for your care and concern for our WWII heroes.
