After retiring, she traveled in Europe, Africa, China, and the United States. She volunteered as a Miami Metrozoo Docent and later was a volunteer at the Parrot Jungle. She is survived by her daughter, Grett Wieda; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Margaret R. and Scott Jones; her great granddaughters, Courtney and Chelsea Jones; and her sister, Billie Mae Mylius.
